Prenatal Care
Pregnancy can bring a lot of joy… and also a lot of emotional and physical discomfort. A prenatal massage, yoga session and/or reflexology treatment will aid the mother-to-be in relieving the tension and stress that oftentimes accompanies being pregnant.
“Regular” vs. “Prenatal”
What is the difference between a non-pregnancy massage/yoga/treatment vs a pregnancy treatment?
The difference between “regular” and “prenatal” sessions are such that prenatal sessions specifically address the many anatomical and emotional changes a woman undergoes during pregnancy and will in NO WAY cause harm to the mother or the baby.
MASSAGE: Accommodations for the changing body are made to ensure a comfortable treatment session. Typically, prenatal massage begins in the second trimester and can continue through postpartum sessions, aiding the mother’s body in healing throughout the stages of pregnancy.
YOGA
Prenatal yoga will give you a balanced sequence of joint mobility yoga postures, as well as seated, standing, hip stabilizing, breathing, and relaxation postures. Props and modifications are offered to help the practitioner stabilize the joints while maintaining a healthy pregnancy and satisfying yoga practice.
REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology has been shown to be an effective tool for easing the many discomforts that moms-to-be suffer. The theory is that it helps balance the hormonal and emotional rollercoaster that pregnancy creates, and it can also help with many of the physical effects of pregnancy, such as morning sickness, digestive problems, heartburn, anaemia and general aches and pains.
