Temporomandibular Disorders
Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) encompass over 30 conditions characterized by pain and dysfunction. These include temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, migraines, and various types of headaches. TMDs affect the jaw muscles, temporomandibular joints, and the nerves associated with chronic facial pain, as well as the fascia, lymphatic, and blood vessels supporting these structures. Any pain or dysfunction disrupting the harmony of this intricate system of muscles, bones, and joints can result in a temporomandibular disorder.
Addressing TMDs involves using gentle neuro-myofascial realignment techniques to re-pattern the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and supporting fascia in the craniofacial and neck regions. By establishing these new patterns, pain and dysfunction are effectively neutralized.
